Druid futurism. Noise-rock melting into psyched-out hip-hop.

With a mouth full of dust from a life of diggin’ in the crates and a will to speak some truth in this dark, ganked world, SaltChunkJerry learned to speak through drum machines—chopping samples into grimey, spooky, wonky, psyched-out bap blasts.

Working out of Toronto, his records pull from the stranger corners of the collection: blown-out psych, damaged rock, free jazz, library records, noise and whatever else survives the needle. Drums knock crooked. Guitars bleed through the samples. Beautiful things get roughed up and ugly things get given room to breathe.

From the warped instrumental experiments of Zone Crystals from the Land of Sans Soleil through the Dead Fingers Talk series, his production has increasingly become a meeting place for his own fucked-up sonic world and some of underground hip-hop's most singular voices. Dead Fingers Talk Raps paired that sound with Rahiem Supreme alongside al.divino, Daniel Son and ANKHLEJOHN; Black Fuzz pushes it further with Declaime, Blu, M.E.D. and Guilty Simpson.

SaltChunkJerry is also the producer and label head behind Riff Pillage Records—a small-press home for strange collaborations, physical records and music that doesn't need sanding down for mass consumption.

He keeps the weird shit moving.
